Queen Camilla’s online book community, The Queen’s Reading Room, has another right royal fan- Queen Mathilde of the Belgians!
Queen Mathilde has shared three of her favourite book recommendations with The Queen’s Reading Room, including one rare recommendation.
As Queen Camilla’s club shared in their social media post, “each selection invites readers into diverse narratives that inspire reflections, understanding and appreciation for the world around us.”
The Belgian queen made three non-fiction recommendations, which is an uncommon choice for the book club.
The Burgundians from Bart Van Loo “brings the powerfully evocative middle ages to life… He succeeds in transforming the historical characters into real flesh-and-blood people you would love to have known.”
Those Who Forget by Geraldine Schwarz is a powerful and moving memoir. Schwarz, a journalist, examines her German and French grandparents’ lives during the Second World War and their family legacies.
Colette Nys-Masure’s Celebration of the Everyday is a collection of poetic essays. The book “invites us to appreciate the little things in our lives, because in the routine of everyday life, we are often elsewhere, absent from ourselves”.
Queen Mathilde is the first royal from outside the British Royal Family to share her recommendations. The King and The Princess of Wales have shared their own choices.
