Princess Elisabeth is heading to Harvard

Princess Elisabeth is heading to Harvard.

The Belgian Royal Court announced on Tuesday that the future queen will complete her education at Harvard University in Boston, one of the most prestigious universities in the world, having passed the entrance exams required.

Princess Elisabeth will begin a two-year Masters degree in Public Policy from the summer; and the Court announced that this will complete the royal’s education. She is currently in her final year at Oxford’s Lincoln College campus, where she’s studying history and politics.

According to the Court, Princess Elisabeth has also received an award from the Fulbright Program, which is administered by the United States State Department international educational exchange program.

On Harvard’s website, the Public Policy degree is a “cross-disciplinary core curriculum that exposes you to the analytic methods, conceptual frameworks, and habits of mind that empower you to craft solutions for real-world public problems.”

The global scope of Princess Elisabeth’s education follows in King Philippe’s footsteps. Her father also began his studies at the Royal Military Academy before continuing his education at Trinity College at Oxford and a graduate program at Stanford University in California. Her cousin, Prince Joachim, is also a Harvard alum.

Princess Elisabeth bucked royal tradition by studying in Dutch at the St John Berchmans College for her primary and secondary education. She attend UWC Atlantic in Wales between 2018-2020 before entering the Royal Military Academy in the summer of 2020.
