Princess Eléonore of Belgium is celebrating her 14th birthday today, and the Belgian Royal Palace has released a new photograph of her to mark the occasion.
In the photo taken by Bas Bogaerts, the Princess is seen holding the Royal Family’s two dogs in the Royal Domain of Laeken surrounding the Palace of Laeken near Brussels.
Princess Eléonore Fabiola Victoria Anne Marie is the youngest of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde’s four children. Her older siblings are Princess Elisabeth, Duchess of Brabant (b. 2001), Prince Gabriel (b. 2003), and Prince Emmanuel (b. 2005).
She was born in Erasmus Hospital in Brussels in 2008 to then-Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde while her grandfather, King Albert II, was still on the throne. The Princess was christened on 14 June 2008 in the Royal Chapel of Ciergnon Castle. She counts Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, Princess Claire of Belgium (her aunt) and Count Sébastien von Westphalen zu Fürstenberg as godparents.
Eléonore is fourth in line to the Belgian throne and attends a Dutch-speaking primary school, Sint-Jan Berchmanscollege. She lives with her family at the Royal Palace of Laeken.
According to the Belgian Royal Palace, the Princess enjoys the violin, reading, drawing, cycling, swimming, sailing and skiing.
Eléonore’s father came to the throne in July 2013 upon the abdication of his father, King Albert.
