
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde braved the rain in Paris to cheer on the Belgian Olympic contingent at the Opening Ceremony on Friday evening.
The King and Queen were happy spectators at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games Opening Ceremony on Friday evening. The unique ceremony, the first ever to be held outside of a stadium, was held on the Seine River in the heart of Paris.
[getty src=”2162913394″ width=”594″ height=”396″ tld=”com”]King Philippe and Queen Mathilde had riverside seats to see the Belgian team pass by in the Parade of Nations as they travelled by boat down the Seine.
They both happily cheered on the Belgian athletes as they passed. Queen Mathilde wore a clear poncho to keep the rain off of her red ensemble.

They also shared a message, ”Serious things are starting… The King and Queen attend the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games on the Seine. Team Belgium makes its joyful entrance into the centre of Paris! ”
Earlier on Friday, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde opened the LOTTO Belgium House where Belgian fans can watch their athletes and cheer them on.
