Royal super fans set up camp on the Mall ahead of the Coronation

The most devoted royal super fans have already set up camp outside Buckingham Palace for the Coronation, despite the big day still being a week away.

John Loughrey, 67, has set up his tent on the Mall ensuring he gets the best vantage point to watch the procession.

Dressed in clothes featuring the union jack, Mr Loughrey from South London is no stranger to big royal events.

In September 2022, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the pensioner camped outside Buckingham Palace for ten days in order to pay his respects.

He did similar for the Platinum Jubilee in June 2022, and can often be spotted front and centre at major royal events.

Spectators from all over the world are to descend on London next week for the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

Transport For London has warned of crowding on the underground tube services, with many thousands expected to camp out on Coronation eve.
