Royal expert predicts Cambridges to head on U.S. tour in new episode of True Royalty’s The Royal Beat

American royal watchers might be in for a treat in 2022, at least according to Sunday Times royal editor Roya Nikkah, who shared her thoughts on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge heading stateside in the latest episode of The Royal Beat.

In the show, released 22 October on streaming channel True Royalty TV, Nikkah predicted the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge might schedule some engagements in the United States surrounding the 2022 Earthshot Prize awards, which will be held in a yet-to-be-disclosed American location.

“Watch this space,” Nikkah said. “I suspect there may well be a bit of a U.S. tour from The Cambridges to put around [the ceremony], which will be very interesting in the year of Harry releasing his memoirs, which will be big news around the world, particularly in America.”

Nikkah was joined on the episode, titled “Prince William: A Prince for the Future,” by host Kate Thornton along with Russell Myers, royal editor of the Daily Mirror, and Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty. Along with a recap of the inaugural Earthshot Prize awards ceremony and a look at Prince William stepping up his environmental work, the panel discussed the Duchess of Cambridge’s efforts to raise awareness of addiction, which Myers said has had “an awful lot of traction.”

Nikkah shared that the Duchess of Cambridge’s recent work echoes that of Diana, Princess of Wales. “Kate is very, very keen to raise awareness about things that are still quite taboo, and it echoes Diana, very early in the days of her royal career, getting behind causes like homelessness or HIV and AIDS that senior members of the Royal Family just weren’t going for,” Nikkah said. “I think addiction is still one of those issues that is perhaps slightly under the radar in terms of people being honest and talking about it.”

The panel also unpacks The Queen’s health news, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s latest commercial deal, and the latest on Prince Andrew’s case, along with a preview of two new True Royalty documentaries: “Queen Elizabeth II: The Unlikely Queen” and “Elizabeth at 95: The Invincible Queen.”

The Royal Beat can be viewed in full on the True Royalty TV website. The streaming service, which has been described by Vanity Fair as “Netflix for royalty,” is the world’s first and only royalty subscription TV channel.
