New photos released for Queen of Bhutan’s 33rd birthday

Bhutan’s Royal House has released two new images of Queen Jetsun Pema for her 33rd birthday.

Both photos were taken outside Lingkana Palace in Thimphu.

The Queen was most recently seen at the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan to Rajwa Alsaif on 1 June in Amman. Alsaif was named HRH Princess Rajwa Al Hussein of Jordan after the wedding by King Abdullah.

Queen Jetsun Pema attended alongside her sister-in-law, Princess Euphelma. Euphelma is the sister of King Jigme Khesar and the wife of Jetsun Pema’s brother, Thinley Norbu.

Jetsun Pema and her husband, King Jigme Khesar, were also at the Coronation of King Charles III in May.

Jetsun Pema was born on 2 June 1990 to Dhondup Gyaltshen and Aum Sonam Choki. She married the King in October 2011, and they now have two sons together, Crown Prince Jigme Namgyel (b. 2016) and Prince Ugyen Wangchuck (b. 2020).
