The Royal Office for Media for the King and Queen of Bhutan has released a new family photo.
The new photo features King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Queen Jetsun Pema, Crown Prince Jigme Namgyel (5) and Prince Ugyen Wangchuck (18 months). The image was taken in Dechenphu in September 2021 during a visit to the Dechenphu Temple in Thimphu.
The release of the photo comes ahead of the King and Queen’s tenth wedding anniversary on 13 October.

This photograph was also used in the October calendar for Yellow Bhutan. The free calendars from Yellow Bhutan include both the Gregorian calendar dates and Bhutanese Lunar calendar dates. Downloads are available for mobile phones, Macs and PCs. Click here to access the calendar.
Yellow Bhutan said about this month’s calendar: “This is a special October- this month we celebrate 10 luminous years since the Royal Wedding.
“We are inspired by our King and Queen, whose only aspiration is the wellbeing of the people of Bhutan. Our everlasting love for Their Majesties strengthens us to fulfill this aspiration. If Bhutan is an exception in the world today, it is because of this.
“For Their Majesties compassionate, exemplary, and empowering leadership, our gratitude transcends lifetimes. On this special occasion, we look back with gratitude, but even more, we look forward with hope.”
