A television show called “All Denmark celebrating the Crown Prince” will air on live DR1 TV on 27 May 2018 at 20:00 from the Royal Arena in Copenhagen for Crown Prince Frederik’s 50th birthday.
DR said that they want “to gather Denmark for a joint celebration of the Crown Prince at a large-scale birthday show in the Royal Arena.”
Entertainment Manager at DR, Jan Lagermand Lundme, said on their website, “When Denmark’s future king is half a century, it’s not just a birthday for the Crown Prince and the family – in a historical perspective, it’s also a special day for Denmark. It’s a big national event and a good opportunity to tell a wide story about Danish culture and identity.
“It is important for DR that this celebration of the Crown Prince will be a genuine people’s party that the people of the whole country can participate in. The Fund’s contributions can help to achieve this ambition. With the Kongehuset in focus as a significant institution in Danish society, this festive evening we will draw our common story and at the same time take a look into the new era that comes.”
Stéphanie Surrugue and Mads Steffensen will host the event which will take place the day after His Royal Highness’s 50th birthday on 26 May. Performers will include the Danish band Lukas Graham and Danish singer Oh Land.
Grants have made it to where the tickets are only approximately £14 throughout the entire arena. The show is in collaboration with Oticon Fund, Spar Nord Foundation, Sydbank Foundation and Lundbeck Foundation.
Ticket sales began yesterday. They can be purchased here.
The Crown Prince’s birthday will also be celebrated with a “Royal Run” in Denmark. It is due to take place on 21 May with His Royal Highness running a mile in Aalborg, Aarhus, Esbjerg and Odense. He will then go to Copenhagen where he will run ten kilometres to Frederiksberg. Frederik invited the Danish people to participate with him and said the event aims to “bring joy, well-being and energy” while encouraging people to take part in physical activities.
His Royal Highness said, “When I turn 50-year-old, I will celebrate the day with a race where all of Denmark can join…A run must be a race aimed at the experienced runners, but equally to those who tie their running shoes for the first time and everyone is welcome regardless of age…Will you join?”
