Sony Classical expects that Prince George fever will take the album
to the top of the charts with 100,000 copies estimated in sales. If
releasing a Royal album wasn’t good enough, 50 pence per album sold
will also be donated to Cruse Bereavement Care, whose Patron is Her
Majesty The Queen.
The title track, composed by the Charity’s Composer in residence,
Dr Olga Thomas -Bosovskaya, was recorded with the orchestral
ensemble of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Portsmouth.
A spokesperson for Cruse Bereavement Care commented, “Olga composed
several pieces of music as a gift for the Royal Household. The
Palace wrote to thank our CEO Debbie Kerslake and they also
revealed that Lullaby for Prince George had been passed to
Kensington Palace.”
Recorded by Charlotte Jaconelli, who signed with Sony Classical
after finishing in second place on Britain’s Got Talent in 2012,
the version was slated for release on July 21st, the day before
Prince George’s first birthday. It has been held back until later
on in the year when the rest of the album is ready.
Other tracks expected on the album include Jubilation, a piece of
music composed to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and an
instrumental written for the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of
Cambridge.
Liam Toner, UK label manager at Sony Classical said, “Lullaby for
Prince George is all done but we wont be releasing it in time for
Prince George’s birthday”.
The goal is that the album will raise thousands for Cruse
Bereavement Care, who offer support, advice and information to
children, young people and adults when someone dies, they also
enhance society’s care of bereaved people.
