
The final journey of the Duchess of Kent begins later when her coffin is taken from Kensington Palace to Westminster Cathedral ahead of her funeral.
The Royal Hearse will convey the Duchess’ coffin from the palace with a lone piper from the Royal Dragoon Guards walking ahead of it.
The Duke of Kent and their three surviving children – George, Helen and Nicholas – will accompany the Duchess on her final journey.
The procession will travel to Westminster Cathedral where a Bearer Party made up of members of the Royal Dragoon Guards will greet the coffin.
The Duchess of Kent was Deputy Colonel-in-Chief of the regiment from its inception in 1992.
On the eve of the funeral, there will be a private Vigil for the Deceased with Rite of Reception and Vespers for the Dead attended by the Duchess’ immediate family.
The funeral will take place tomorrow with King Charles and Queen Camilla in attendance alongside other members of the Royal Family.
The Duke of Kent along with George, Earl of St. Andrews, Lady Helen Taylor and Lord Nicholas Windsor will lead mourners in remembering the Duchess.
Katharine, The Duchess of Kent died on September 4 2025 at the age of 92.
