Princess Charlotte: a big smile for a big birthday

Little Lottie’s now in the double digits!

Princess Charlotte, the only daughter of the Prince and Princess of Wales, celebrated her 10th birthday on Friday with a wide smile in the Cumbrian fields as a new photograph of the young royal was released for the occasion.

The Princess of Wales snapped the photo of her daughter, dressed in camouflage jacket and backpack, on an iPhone earlier this year during a family visit to Cumbria.

The young princess is a student at Lambrook School in Windsor and lives at Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Estate with her family. She carries out the rare family engagement around the holidays and major state events like Trooping the Colour.

Princess Charlotte was born on 2 May 2015 as the first princess who could not be displaced in the line of succession by the birth of a younger brother, as was the case three years later when Prince Louis was born.

She is currently third in line to the throne after father and her older brother, Prince George.
