Zara Tindall shared a warm reunion with Queen Camilla as the pair enjoyed a day of racing at Ascot on British Champions Day.

The Queen Consort and Princess Anne’s daughter were pictured smiling as they greeted one another at the Berkshire racecourse on Saturday.

The pair were also spotted in the Royal Box alongside Andrew Parker Bowles, Queen Camilla’s former husband.

They were among a number of familiar faces attending Champions Day at the meeting, which marks the culmination of the British Flat racing season.

Both Camilla and Zara a longstanding passion for horses and equestrian sport, with Ascot a regular fixture in their calendars.

Zara, an accomplished equestrian who won an Olympic silver medal as part of the British eventing team at London 2012, has long been involved in the sport.

The daughter of the Princess Royal has followed in her mother’s footsteps as a keen horsewoman, while Queen Camilla is also a regular supporter of British racing.

The pair were also spotted in the Royal Box alongside Andrew Parker Bowles, Queen Camilla’s former husband.

Among the day’s highlights on the track was a thrilling renewal of the Group One Qatar Racing Champion Stakes.

Ombudsman delivered a superb performance under William Buick, reversing last year’s result against Calandagan to claim victory for trainers John and Thady Gosden.

The six-runner field remained closely grouped as they entered the home straight, but Ombudsman produced an impressive turn of foot to sweep past Bay City Roller before holding off Calandagan.

The victory provided a welcome response after Ombudsman’s disappointing run in the Juddmonte International at York.

Trainer John Gosden praised Buick’s confident ride, describing the performance as special.

Ombudsman could now be considered for the Breeders’ Cup Turf in the United States, although his future plans remain to be decided.
