While most people tend to focus on the first ten to twenty people in line for the British throne, particularly when there is a new member of the family and the line shifts, the line of succession is far longer than that. And there are actually several monarchs of other kingdoms that are in line for the British throne.
His Majesty King Harald V of Norway
King Harald V of Norway is currently the next monarch in line for
the British throne; however, as he ranks around the mid-80s, it is
not a particularly crucial issue. His great-grandparents, King
Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, are also the
great-great-grandparents of King Charles III.
His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden
The Swedish King is the following monarch who could theoretically
inherit King Charles’ throne; however, he is well into the 300s.
Carl Gustaf and Charles share a great-great-grandmother/
great-great-great grandmother respectively in Queen Victoria.
His Majesty King Frederik X of Denmark
The newest European monarch is currently also in the later 300s in
the line of succession for King Charles III’s crown. The Danish and
British kings are related through both Queen Victoria of Great
Britain and King Christian IX of Denmark.
His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the
Netherlands
We see a significant jump well past the 1,000 mark with King
Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands. Notably Willem-Alexander was
excluded for marrying a Catholic but was returned to his position
in 2015. after a change in succession rules in the UK. The two
kings are related through Princess Carolina, an 18th century Dutch
princess.
King Felipe of Spain and King Philippe of Belgium are excluded as Catholics.
