King Harald admitted to hospital

King Harald of Norway has been hospitalized. The King has an infection which is being treated with antibiotics – his condition is stated to be stable. However, the King is expected to be in hospital for a few days.

The announcement came from the royal court on the morning of December 19th 2022.

The 85-year-old King is being treated at Oslo’s Rikshospitalet where he has his own physician, Bjørn Bendz.

The royal court said that no further comments will be made at this time.

His latest admission comes a month after King Harald had to take a day’s sick leave for a cold. In August 2022, the King was admitted to the Rikshospitalet where he was treated for a fever. His stay lasted several days.

In 2021, King Harald underwent an operation for a damaged tendon on his right knee.

The King of Norway remains busy and has a packed diary. In the past few days, he held an audience with Norway’s Prime Minister, Jonas Gahr Støre and attended a cabinet meeting.

His next scheduled engagement was another cabinet meeting.

The Norwegian royal family usually attend church together at Christmas. King Harald is due to give his festive address on New Year’s Eve.
