The Duchess of Cornwall has been joined by the Duchess of Cambridge and the Countess of Wessex on the main balcony overlooking Whitehall for the Remembrance Sunday service.
Camilla, Catherine and Sophie watched the poignant ceremony from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office building.
The three shared the balcony usually used by The Queen for the service. Her Majesty was forced to miss the event with Buckingham Palace announcing just hours before it began that she had suffered a back sprain and was unable to attend.
The Duchess of Cornwall, with the the Duchess of Cambridge and the Countess of Wessex at her side, watched as the Prince of Wales laid The Queen’s wreath on behalf of the nation at the foot of the Cenotaph. After leaving the red poppies standing upright against the monument, he bowed and then returned to lay his own wreath with the distinctive Prince of Wales’ feathers picked out in white. His own personal tribute, along with the other royal wreaths, was laid flat on the steps of the Cenotaph.
Also watching from the balconies of the Foreign Office was the Duke of Kent who was joined for the ceremony by his sister, Princess Alexandra. On a third balcony, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester also took part in the tribute with the Princess Royal’s husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, at their side.
The Duke of Cambridge, the Earl of Wessex and the Princess Royal all took part in the main ceremony on Whitehall.
