The Duchess of Cornwall has shared a special photo from her wedding day to highlight the special role fathers play. As Father’s Day is celebrated across the UK, Camilla added an image of her arm in arm with her dad, Bruce Shand, on the afternoon she married the Prince of Wales.
The portrait was shared on the official Clarence House social media accounts along with a black and white photo of Prince Charles as a young child with his own father, the Duke of Edinburgh. In a poignant message, the royals wrote ”To all Papas everywhere, and to those who may be missing their Dads today, we are thinking of you and wishing you a special #FathersDay.”
This is the first Father’s Day for the Prince of Wales since the death of Prince Philip and the late Duke was also remembered on the official Royal Family accounts which chose another black and white photo to mark the day. In that picture, Charles is seen with Prince Philip and The Queen as well as her father, King George VI.
Kensington Palace also marked the day with a mini video, spelling out the message ”Happy Father’s Day” along with a series of photos including a previously unseen image of the Duke of Cambridge at Trooping the Colour 2019. William is seen holding Prince Louis and being cuddled tightly by Prince George and Princess Charlotte in the photo. The pictures also include a photo of William and Prince Harry alongside the Prince of Wales.
