No more cases of Covid-19 have so far been discovered at the Norwegian Royal Court after an employee was diagnosed with coronavirus at the end of last week. Still King Harald, Queen Sonja and parts of the staff at the Royal Court are in quarantine.
This weekend an update from the Royal Court was issued in an e-mail to the Norwegian news agency NTB. In an email to NTB, communications manager at the Royal Court, Guri Varpe, states: “No more cases of infection have been detected at the Castle. Those who are in quarantine receive close follow-up. On the advice of a doctor, those who are in quarantine will be tested if they get symptoms, or before they return to work.”
It is further stated that King Harald is carrying out his work by telephone, while Crown Prince Haakon continues taking on some of the posts that must be done at the Royal Palace in Oslo. The Royal House’s official program is continuously updated when there are changes as a result of the situation. On Monday, the king was originally supposed to have three audiences. Now, instead, Crown Prince Haakon will receive the commander of the Home Guard in the audience on Monday morning, while audiences with recipients of the king’s merit medals are postponed. The king is listed as having an engagement at the Palace on November 30, until then he will work from self-imposed quarantine.
It became known on Thursday that the King, Queen and 14 employees at the Royal Court are in quarantine because one employee has been diagnosed with Covid-19. It was then announced that both King Harald and Queen Sonja were symptom-free. The queen is in quarantine due to close contact with the infected person, while the king is in self-imposed isolation.
The Royal Court states that they have routines that are in line with rules and recommendations from the authorities related to infection control, including the practice of distance regulations, the use of face masks, intensified cleaning and hand hygiene, as well as the use of home offices.
