To mark Coronation Day in Bhutan, the Royal Court has released new images of the King, Queen and their two sons. The photos were taken in Dechencholing Palace in the Bhutanese capital of Thimphu.
Five images were released showing the happy family of four with two of the photographs featuring the brotherly love of Crown Prince Jigme Namgyel (4) and Prince Ugyen Wangchuck (7 months). One of the photos was chosen by Yellow Bhutan as their image for the free November calendar.

These are the first set of photographs released of the new royal baby since the Prince was named back in June. His full name is Prince Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck, and the Royal Court announced that he would be known as Gyalsey (Prince) Ugyen Wangchuck.

Prince Ugyen Wangchuck was born on 19 March 2020 in Lingkana Palace. He is second in line to the throne behind his older brother.
King Jigme Khesar celebrated his coronation on 1 November 2008 after his father’s abdication. The King told the nation during his Coronation address: “Throughout my reign, I will never rule you as a King. I will protect you as a parent, care for you as a brother and serve you as a son. I shall give you everything and keep nothing; I shall live such a life as a good human being that you may find it worthy to serve as an example for your children; I have no personal goals other than to fulfill your hopes and aspirations. I shall always serve you, day and night, in the spirit of kindness, justice and equality.”
He also promised: “As the king of a Buddhist nation, my duty is not only to ensure your happiness today but to create the fertile ground from which you may gain the fruits of spiritual pursuit and attain good karma.”
