The Duchess of Cambridge helped design a log seat as part of her of second Back to Nature Garden at the Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival for patrons to lose themselves in nature.
“The idea I that it makes you sit back and look at the clouds,” co-Garden designer Adam White told the Mail on Sunday in an interview.
“Instead of looking at a screen, you have got to use your imagination to think what you can see in the sky. It is something that the Duchess said she really enjoyed doing.”
The log seat is perfectly angled to make a person recline and face sky-ward, immersing themselves in nature and their imagination.
“The idea of creating something from nothing was something the Duchess enjoys with her family,” White continued.
Kate spoke of her love of nature and how she encourages her family to spend their time outdoors in an interview with BBC One, saying that, “I really feel that nature and being interactive outdoors has huge benefits on our physical and mental wellbeing, particularly for young children.”
She continued, “I really hope that this woodland that we have created really inspires families, kids and communities to get outside, enjoy nature and the outdoors, and spend quality time together.”
To further help children play outside and enjoy nature, the Duchess created a series of activity cards with the Royal Horticultural Society. The activities include creating a fairy garden, pebble painting, creating welly and toy planters, creating a leaf wand, and creating a bug hotel.
Kate’s first Back to Nature Garden, which debuted in May at the Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show, was moved to the Dewans Centre mental health clinic in Devon.
Following the end of the Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival on Sunday, the Duchess of Cambridge will create a third Back to Nature Garden for the RHS Garden Wisley in September.
