Children from St Dunstan’s College’s reception classes were thrilled to receive a message from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex today.
The response from Their Royal Highnesses came after classes 00P and 00R sent homemade cards to the Duke and Duchess to wish them a happy Christmas.
And today, Kensington Palace sent a response to the classes saying, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex thank you for the very kind message you sent for Christmas.
“This was most thoughtful of you and greatly appreciated by Their Royal Highnesses who send their best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.”
The handmade cards from the students and individually signed by each pupil. Reception class 00P created their cards based on the famous Van Gogh “Starry Night” painting – a recent focus of their studies.
The Head of St Dunstan’s Pre-Prep, Tamara Shaw, remarked about the cards, “The children and staff were very excited to receive a reply from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”
The other class, 00R, handcrafted their cards based on traditional Christmas images like Christmas trees.
Tamara Shaw, also said, “All of the children really enjoyed making the cards for the royal couple, and it was lovely to see the finished cards ready to be sent off.”
Shaw added, “It was great to receive something back from the palace. The children were excited to receive a message from a real prince and princess.”
St Dunstan’s College is a London independent co-educational school for children 3-18 based in Catford. It boasts The Very Reverend John Hall, who officiated the 29 April 2011 wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as a former pupil.
