‘Old Fergie was back’: Duchess of York appears on Good Morning Britian

Sarah, Duchess of York has today appeared on ITV’s Good Morning Britain to discuss being the patron of Street Child, which helps the world’s children benefit from education and her triumphant return to the royal fold after nearly three decades.

The Duchess appeared with Street Child’s CEO and President, Tom Dannatt to discuss the charity and its effect on children around the world. Founded in 2008, Street Child has since given more than 200,000 children access to education that guarantees them a sustainable place in a classroom.

Sitting at a roundtable with the morning anchors at Good Morning Britain, the talk soon shifted to some recent developments in the Duchess’s status… a return to the royal fold.

Asked about her appearance at The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding in May, the Duchess said she was “riddled with anxiety”, and that the reception she received as she walked towards St. George’s Chapel almost brought her to tears as “old Fergie was back.” Soon after her appearance at the Royal Wedding in May, Sarah was seen in the Royal Box at Ascot conversing and laughing with The Queen.

Sarah praised The Queen for her role in setting an example for being inclusive to her, saying that “Her Majesty is an incredible lady, and what an icon for this country, and one of the finest people in the world I’ve ever met.”

Last month, we saw the Duchess front and centre at the wedding of Princess Eugenie to Jack Brooksbank in Windsor. In Fergie style, the bubble of energy and enthusiasm she had once brought to all royal functions was back as she spontaneously ran toward the crowd after exiting a royal chauffeured Rolls Royce with Princess Beatrice at her side. Perhaps after all these years, and with time to heal, we are seeing what we’ve been missing with her absence from royal court. The once whisk of fresh air has lit yet another spark.

Asked about a possible remarriage between her and The Duke of York, Sarah dismissed one of her interviewers with a sarcastic “Piers, Get a life!”

Would that be a yes or a no? Time will tell. In the meantime, rest assured that Fergie is indeed back.
