A royal’s duty is never done! Even when that particular royal has just given birth. The Duchess of Sussex appeared in a pre-recorded messaged for the CAMFED “Education Is Everything” Gala in New York City which took place on May 9th 2019.
CAMFED – The Campaign for Female Education – is an organisation in which Meghan works closely with as the vice president of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.
CAMFED aims to break the cycle of poverty and inequality in rural Africa by educating women and girls and investing in various economic and leadership opportunities for young women.
In her message, the Duchess talked about the importance of female education. ”As I said on International Women’s Day, a girl who is educated becomes a women who is influential.” The Duchess went on to add, “The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust wants to champion, fund and connect young leaders.”

The message refers back to Meghan’s appearance on an International Women’s Day panel back in March. Organized by the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, the event saw the Duchess speak extensively on the importance of educating women and girls.
CAMFED’s CEO Lucy Lake told the Daily Mail – “We had the opportunity to meet with the Duchess in the spring. As an organisation our team very much represents what we are working towards and that was why the Duchess was interested to meet with us and hear more about that.”
Lake went on to add, “The way both she and her husband have spoken about these issues in such a thoughtful and discerning manner has really helped the wider movement. It’s exciting times.”
There is no word as to when the Duchess will officially return to royal duties. She is said to be taking several months off for maternity leave. The Duchess gave birth to Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor on 6th May at 05:26 am and presented her son to the world two days later at Windsor Castle.
