Katie Cassidy reveals she turned down a chance to date Prince Harry

We know that Meghan and Prince Harry met when a mutual friend introduced them. It turns out that back in 2014 another Hollywood actress had the opportunity to date the then-bachelor Prince, but for Katie Cassidy, she preferred to decline politely. Katie is the daughter of the late David Cassidy who was quite a heartthrob with “The Partridge Family” and then a career in musicals such as Blood Brothers.

What put Katie off was not the Prince, but the image and being “The Prince’s Girl” – something which you can understand as she has probably struggled to develop a career where she is known for her talent and achievements and not as “David’s daughter”. She has carved quite a career on those talents. She appeared as Laurel Lance/Black Canary on the television show, Arrow‘s first four seasons and in seasons five and six as Black Siren, Laurel’s evil Earth-2 doppelgänger.

It was Arrow that led to the meeting, as Katie and other girls from the show went on holiday after filming finished for the season and were in Miami – at the same time as Prince Harry and friends who were on a bachelor weekend. It was the lads who suggested the idea, but Katie did not warm to it. Though she did say that she met Prince Harry the next morning, and he said he fully understood the girls’ position in declining, for her part Katie describes the Prince as being the loveliest and kindest person.

This tale though does have a happy ending for all parties. Prince Harry is due to marry Meghan in a service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on May 19th. For her part, Katie got engaged to Matthew Rodgers after he proposed to her on the holiday island of Mauritius last year. Like Prince Harry, he is known to be an animal lover – but a celebrity he isn’t.

Well, good luck to both couples for a happy future.
