A look inside a Royal Wedding watch party – Nashville style!

The Nashville Westin hosted a watch party in their Decker & Dyer Restaurant where guests of the hotel, local influencers and the public were all invited to watch fellow American Meghan Markle (now The Duchess of Sussex) marry her prince. It all began at 6.00 CDT (when the wedding officially started at noon at St George’s Chapel).

There were also Royal Wedding spas available at the Rhapsody Spa – which I also got to experience – based off of the treatments the now Duchess of Sussex usually receives! A separate article will be out soon on the luxurious spa.

For the event, the Westin had a traditional English tea menu available to get the full English experience while watching the Royal Wedding. There were also unique cocktails: “The Royal”, “Prince Charming” and “Cinderella”. A complimentary champagne toast was also served after the couple had said: “I Do”. The Westin made sure everyone received the royal treatment.

As it was an early morning watch party, outfits ranged from pyjamas to dresses with fascinators. One guest was even decked out in a t-shirt that said: “Keep Calm Harry Put a Ring on It”.

Those at the watch party cheered as Meghan stepped out of the car and were heard saying “aw” as The Prince of Wales escorted her partially down the aisle. A favourite moment was the look of love between Harry and Meghan when the Prince lifted her veil. Bishop Michael Curry, from Chicago, stole the show with the sermon. The Westin guests, like many across social media, found the reactions of the British Royal Family to his speech as hilarious.

However, the favourite moments by far were the kiss once the Duke and Duchess stepped out of St George’s Chapel, Princess Charlotte excitedly waving her aunt and uncle off for their procession and the procession itself.

Local Nashville fashion blogger, Betsy Appleton was among the invited guest of the Westin’s watch party, and she had this to say about Meghan’s Givenchy wedding gown, “I love Meghan’s choice of a Givenchy dress! It was completely unexpected. Though it doesn’t make the same bold statement as the wedding dresses of Princess Diana and Princess Kate, the simple and sleek style is consistent with her fashion choices since the engagement announcement. Her choice of an off the shoulder style sealed the trend’s longevity for wedding styles for years to come!”

Thank you to the Westin Nashville for inviting me to the watch party and for a wonderful royal experience! It was truly top notch!
