Duchess of Cornwall busy in Aberdeenshire during Royal Wedding

While the majority of the Royal Family was attending the wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brookbank at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, the Duchess of Cornwall was in Aberdeenshire.

The Duchess of Cornwall, or rather the Duchess of Rothesay as she is known in Scotland, visited Crathie Primary School.

According to the Clarence House Twitter page, “The Duchess was given a tour of the school and chatted to pupils about different local wildlife.”

She also “told the children about the eagles she has seen in the area!”

For her second engagement of the day, the Duchess visited The Duke of Rothesay Highland Games Pavilion in Braemar.

The Duke of Rothesay’s The Prince’s Foundation developed the new centre that “tells the story of Scotland’s Highland Games.”

The Sun revealed that the Duchess would have to miss Princess Eugenie’s wedding as the day’s engagements were book far in advance and she didn’t want to disappoint the children.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “When this date was proposed, she said that regrettably, she couldn’t come.

“The family understood, particularly Eugenie, and were fine about it owing to her previous commitment. Camilla didn’t want to let anyone down.”

The Duchess of Cornwall isn’t the only member of the Royal Family to miss the ceremony.

Princess Alexandra was noticeably missing. Unfortunately, it was announced in the morning that she had broken her arm and was following her doctor’s advice to rest.

The Duchess of Kent who is semi-retired also did not attend. She only takes part in engagements sparingly, but no reason why she was not at today’s wedding was given.
