Among the mix of traditional Royal Wedding specials broadcasting the wedding on 19 May, one will certainly stick out.
Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon will be hosting HBO’s Royal Wedding broadcast as the fictional broadcasters Cord and Tish.
After the success of their Rose Bowl broadcast that had many Amazon viewers convinced they were the real deal, Funny or Die is producing the live on air special.
Ferrell plays health and fitness expert Cord Hosenbeck and Molly Shannon is L.A. Law alum Tish Cattigan.
The Royal Wedding Live with Cord and Tish! will air on HBO on 19 May at 7:30 a.m. ET/4:30 a.m. PT and repeat again that night at 9:45 p.m. ET/PT.
The special will feature guests including actor, comedian, and fellow Saturday Night Live alum, Tim Meadows.
In a statement from the network, Ferrell in character as Cord said: “This wedding is going to be a blast,
“There will be more luxury packed into that church than all the Bed, Bath & Beyonds combined.”
He also commented that he is so excited he has “stress odor.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be wed at St George’s Chapel on 19 May in Windsor.
The 2,640 people will be made up of 1,200 members of the public from every corner of the United Kingdom. These people will be nominated to attend by nine regional Lord Lieutenant offices.
Harry and Meghan have asked that those selected are from a broad range of backgrounds and ages, including young people who have served their communities and have demonstrated strong leadership skills.
200 people from a range of charities and organisations are also invited. These will be representatives from charities which Prince Harry and Meghan have a close association with, including those which Prince Harry serves as Patron.
A fair warning, The Royal Wedding Live with Cord and Tish! will be unlike other specials and will likely include a fair share for profanity so not safe for the entire family as entertaining as it will be!
