Prince Edward to become Declan Donnelly’s new co-host as Ant & Dec are rebranded Dec & Ed

Royal Central has learned that The Queen’s youngest son, Prince Edward, is set to become the new presenting partner of TV’s Declan Donnelly.

The Earl of Wessex, famed for his previous television appearances on the hugely successful It’s A Royal Knockout, will temporally stand-in for Ant McPartlin who is on leave from his presenting duties.

Shows that the 54-year-old Prince will co-present include Dec & Ed’s Saturday Night Takeaway, Britain’s Got Talent, and I’m a Celebrity.

Television executive, Avril Füller, says that she is in no doubt that television audiences will quickly warm to Prince Edward and will appreciate his unique talents.

She said: “Edward has a history of television production and will be an excellent addition to the ITV line up.

“Dec is always used to being listed after Ant – it is never Dec & Ant, always Ant & Dec! Well now, for the first time, he has top billing in this double act.

“Nobody can replace Ant & Dec, but Edward will certainly give it a good go!”

It is understood that Prince Edward was chosen for the job over other acclaimed stars, including Brad Pitt, Claudia Winkleman and Paul O’Grady.

The job description required the successful applicant to know how to rumble and must have the necessary charisma to win National Television Awards. Clearly, Prince Edward fits the bill!

Disclaimer: If you haven’t already realised, this is an April Fools article. Thankfully, Ant & Dec will not become Dec & Ed.
