How to apply for tickets for the Platinum Jubilee events

More details of events marking the Platinum Jubilee have been shared and applications to attend some of them are already under way with more ballots opening soon.

Trooping the Colour is proving to be one of the most highly anticipated moments of the special celebrations. It takes place on Thursday June 2nd 2022 with thousands expected to line the streets between Buckingham Palace and Horse Guards Parade to see The Queen and the Royal Family. Tickets for Trooping itself are allocated by ballot and are always in high demand. This is the first time since 2019 that the ceremony will take place in London. Applications for the ballot can be made from the middle of January via a special website.

It’s thought the event will be heavily oversubscribed. A recent poll on Royal Central’s special Jubilee Twitter account found that a majority of people were looking forward to that event more than any other.

Another highly anticipated event is the Platinum Party at the Palace. This special concert, featuring some of the biggest names in entertainment, will celebrate some of the major moments of The Queen’s 70 year reign. The ballot, for UK residents only, opens in February 2022.

Meanwhile, the Big Lunch is busy helping communities across the UK to organise special celebrations for the Platinum Jubilee. This annual event, bringing people together to share food and company, is being held across the Jubilee weekend with the main celebrations on June 5th. Over 1,400 groups have already signed up. Their packs, full of tips for for organising a special event, are available on their website.

The Big Jubilee Lunch has also joined forces with Fortnum and Mason for the Platinum Pudding Competition. Bakers across the UK are being invited to create a dessert for the royal milestone and five finalists will rustle up their creations for Dame Mary Berry who will be among the judges at a cook off in March. You can enter via the Fortnum’s website.

Ahead of the main Jubilee weekend in June, the Royal Family are also expected to attend a special celebration of The Queen’s reign at the Windsor Horse Show. The Platinum Jubilee celebration runs between May 12th and May 15th 2022 and tickets are now on sale via their website.

Preparations are also well under way for the beacons that will be lit across the UK and the Commonwealth on June 2nd 2022 for the Jubilee. Over 1,500 communities have already got plans in place and there is lots of time for those who want to join them. All the details are available here.

One of those beacons will be lit at Sandringham House, The Queen’s Norfolk home. The Jubilee weekend will see the estate play host to a major concert, starring Katherine Jenkins, and a Pageant of Motoring. You can buy tickets for both events via a special website. And you can apply for free tickets for a special screening of the Platinum Party at the Palace, where you will see the musical spectacular on a big screen in Sandringham’s grounds on the estate’s main website.

Royal Central will keep you up to date with all the events marking The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and how to be part of the celebrations throughout the year.
