The Duchess of Cambridge’s uncle is charged with assaulting his wife

The Duchess of Cambridge’s uncle, Gary Goldsmith, has been charged with assaulting his wife.

The 52-year-old, who lives in Marylebone, was arrested in the early hours of Friday after a suspected incident involving domestic violence occurred outside of his home.

Scotland Yard has confirmed that Mr Goldsmith has been charged with assault by beating and has been released on bail.

Mr Goldsmith, the younger brother of the Duchess of Cambridge’s mother, Carole, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on October 31.

According to The Times, Julie-Ann Goldsmith was taken to hospital by ambulance following the incident but has since been discharged.

Kensington Palace has declined to comment on the event.
