Christmas photo of William, Kate and family released by Palace

Kensington Palace have released a new photograph of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, alongside Prince George and Princess Charlotte, just before they spend their first Christmas together.

The family of four are posing in the grounds of Kensington Palace. It was taken in late October by photographer Chris Jelf.

Speaking of the photo, Mr Jelf said: “I thoroughly enjoyed photographing a very lovely family, although you have to be sharp as you don’t have long when there are two young children involved! I hope everyone enjoys this photo and I am honoured that The Duke and Duchess have decided to share it with the public.”

A statement accompanying the photographs says that The Duke and Duchess are both “hugely appreciative” of all the warm messages they have received about their family this year.

The message continues that they are looking forward to their spending their first Christmas together this year as as a family of four.

The new photos come just less than a month after images taken by the Duchess of Cambridge were released which shown Princess Charlotte playing with a toy puppy.

Privacy is of the upmost concern for the Cambridge family. The Cambridges have recently complained about covert photographers from overseas publications taking photos of the children.

Kensington Palace released a letter on behalf of William and Kate earlier in the year; which raised their concerns “about their ability to provide a childhood for Prince George and Princess Charlotte that is free from harassment and surveillance.”
