Since joining the Royal Household in 1990, he has served The Queen
as Surgeon-Gynaecologist, and along with delivering babies he
helped care for the Countess of Wessex after her ectopic pregnancy
in 2001, and he helped with the Duchess of Cornwall’s
hysterectomy.
Continuing his caring role, his retirement part was also a
fundraiser for the Wellbeing of Women, which works towards
improving the health of women and babies across the United
Kingdom.
In the 2014 New Year Honours, he was appointed Knight Commander of
the Royal Victorian Order by The Queen. This award is a personal
gift from the monarch and unlike the other honours, they are made
independently of 10 Downing Street.
