She usually brings the biggest hat and a big dose of brightness with her when she joins the Royals for the Christmas Day service at St. Mary Magdalene Church at Sandringham and over the years, the Duchess of Cornwall has shown a tendency for jewel rich shades for her outfit at this most special of the festive family events. We won’t see the Windsors gathered together to celebrate this Christmas – coronavirus pandemic restrictions mean they will mark the day apart with Camilla and Charles staying at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire. Instead, Royal Central looks back at some of the Duchess’ most dramatic Christmas Day looks.

Blue has been a festive favourite for Camilla since her very first Christmas as a member of the Royal Family. All eyes were on her when she arrived for Christmas Day service in 2005 and Camilla chose a sapphire blue hat matched with a cornflower coloured coat as she made her festive duchess debut.Embed from Getty Images
The Duchess of Cornwall chose a deep jewel blue in 2013. There’s just a hint of teal in the velvet trimmed coat while the hat’s quirky band adds another shade of Camilla’s favourite Christmas colour to the mix.Embed from Getty Images
This blue coat with a hint of swing and amazing embellishment on the cuffs was Camilla’s choice in 2016. She added one of her signature wide brimmed hats and, as she does every Christmas, a pair of heeled boots.

That most royal of shades, purple, is another popular pick for the Duchess of Cornwall for Christmas Day service. This two piece was Camilla’s pick for Christmas 2019 and has a hint of blue about it, too. The jacket is more detailed than we’re used to seeing on her while the hat is almost discreet for a royal who has made mega millinery her very own.Embed from Getty Images
Purple reigned again for the Duchess in 2011 when she repeated the coat but added a matching hat to her festive look.

Camilla tends to stay away from the most festive colours for Christmas Day but we have been treated to a traditional mix every now and again. In 2017, the Duchess of Cornwall had a rare red moment for church on Christmas Day in a bright scarlet coat and hat with matching crown.Embed from Getty Images
Green might not be her favourite Christmas colour but when she did opt for this shade, in 2011, Camilla treated us to not one but two versions. The jade green of the coat dominates but her customary Christmas boots have a hint of sage green here. And of course, the hat is huge. Well, that’s what Camilla at Christmas is all about.
