The stars who will take part in the Platinum Party

Star-studded royalty will show up for the true royal, Queen Elizabeth II, this weekend at her Platinum Jubilee celebrations in London.

Musical guests from Diana Ross and Queen to Lin-Manuel Miranda and Alicia Keys will be on hand to perform their hits for the anniversary.

Dame Julie Andrews will appear at the Platinum Party at the Palace. Andrews, who has played royalty on screen throughout her career, is no stranger to performing for them either. In 1948, at 13, Julie Andrews performed for King George IV and Queen Elizabeth, the current monarch’s parents.

Documentarian, naturalist and family friend Sir David Attenborough will be participating at the party. The same age as The Queen, 96, Attenborough and the Royal Family have long been close.

Throughout the years, Attenborough has introduced the young royals, from Prince Charles and Princess Anne to the Cambridge children, to the wonders of nature and the animals that share our planet. Through their mutual concern for the environment and animals, Attenborough has also worked with members of the Royal Family on nature documentaries through the decades.

As BBC controller, Sir David oversaw everything that went out over the airwaves, including the program “Royal Family.” A documentary that gave an inside look at The Queen and her family that aired only once in 1969. It briefly appeared on YouTube but was taken down due to a copyright claim.

The sports world will also be featured during the celebrations. British Grand Slam winner Emma Raducanu will be honouring Her Majesty at the party. In 2021, then 18-year-old, Raducanu became the first British woman to win a Grand Slam in over four decades. Queen Elizabeth wrote the queen of the court a congratulatory note, saying: “I send my congratulations to you on your success in winning the United States Open Tennis Championships. It is a remarkable achievement at such a young age and is a testament to your hard work and dedication.”

Raducanu was reportedly “giddy” at receiving the letter and promptly framed it.

Additional stars include David Beckham, Stephen Fry, The Royal Ballet and Ellie Simmonds.
