The Queen won’t attend the traditional Buckingham Palace garden parties to be held in Platinum Jubilee year.
The dates of the parties have been revealed but it’s also been confirmed that other members of the Royal Family will represent The Queen at the celebrations.
Thousands will be welcomed to the Palace for the parties. They take place on May 11th, May 18th and May 25th 2022. There will also be a garden party at Holyroodhouse on June 29th 2022.
Details of who will be attending the parties will be announced shortly.
The Queen has also given permission for a garden party to be held for the Not Forgotten Association, as is traditional. It will be held on May 12th 2022 and hosted by the Princess Royal who is patron of the Association which supports serving and former service personnel who have been wounded or who are unwell. Over 2,000 people will attend this garden party.
This is the first time in three years that garden parties will be held at Buckingham Palace. The last such celebrations took place in 2019 but they were cancelled in 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic.
The garden parties come just weeks before the Platinum Jubilee weekend of celebrations.
