The Queen marks another 70th anniversary

The Queen has celebrated the 70th anniversary of a company that holds all three Royal warrants.

Her Majesty viewed a selection of items by Halcyon Days in a special showing in the White Drawing Room at Windsor Castle.

The firm was set up to revive the craft of enamelling on copper and among the display were some of its earliest pieces from the 1950s as well as its most modern designs, including a range of bone china.

Two of the company’s master artisans also gave The Queen a demonstration of their work. Susan Shakespeare and Susan Jones ran through the processes of enamel decoration and gilding by hand. Halcyon Days was established to help protect those skills which have been passed down through generations.

The Queen welcomed them to Windsor Castle on March 23rd 2022. It was her first in person engagement for several days.

Her Majesty’s next scheduled engagement is on March 29th 2022 when she hopes to lead the Royal Family at a Service of Thanksgiving for Prince Philip at Westminster Abbey.
