The Platinum Jubilee gets shaken and stirred as party plans continue

The plans for the Platinum Jubilee are well and truly under way. As well as the massive celebrations set to take over London in June 2022, a host of other events are already in the pipeline as the Royal Family gets ready to mark an anniversary like no other. This week’s update of Jubilee news

Trees for the Jubilee

The Earl of Wessex became the latest member of the Royal Family to plant a tree for the Jubilee as he joined schoolchildren in Scotland adding their contribution to The Queen’s Green Canopy. Prince Edward did the honours in Bromlee as the number of trees added to the scheme’s interactive map reached three figures just a few days into official planting season. It’s hoped thousands of people will plant a tree for the Jubilee to provide a lasting legacy of The Queen’s reign.

Stoptober for the Sovereign

The Jubilee could be a far drier affair than anyone predicted after it was reported that The Queen had been advised by her doctors to give up drinking alcohol as she gets ready for what could be an exhausting schedule to mark the 70th anniversary of her reign. It’s understood Her Majesty’s medics think forgoing a daily snifter, including her favourite martini, will help her as she prepares for a busy year ahead.

Street Parties

However, that’s unlikely to stop the celebratory champagne flowing at hundreds of street parties around the UK. Plans are already being made for events around the country. In Lincolnshire, one man is hoping to bring a famous market town to a standstill at the height of the Jubilee weekend so that thousands can celebrate. Darron Abbot, who helped set up Arranging Community Events to put on local fundraisers, has applied to put on a huge party in Boston. Traffic will be stopped and the ancient Market Place will be completely taken over by Jubilee celebrations on June 5th with people invited to bring along picnics and enjoy attractions including fairground rides and live music.

There will be more Platinum Jubilee news next week.
