Meghan Markle to join Prince Harry at Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings

Next week the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings will take place in London and Windsor.

The entire Royal Family will be taking part in a variety of events through out the week including Prince William taking part in the Welcome to the UK Reception and a joint session of the Business and Youth Forums.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall will also be very busy with events with the Commonwealth Big Lunch and the Youth Climate Change Network to name a few.

On both 18 and 19 April, Meghan Markle will join her soon-to-be husband at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre for two engagements.

The first, on Wednesday, the two will visit the Youth Forum which Prince Harry will open earlier in the week. The couple will meet and speak with participants to see how they have progressed.

The Youth Forum’s theme this year is “Powering our Common Future” and will allow participants the platform in “devising solutions to complex global challenges as well
as their ability to bring forward meaningful change.”

The 53 Commonwealth Nation’s total population is over two billion, more than 60% of those are under the age of 30.

On 19 April, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will attend a Women’s Empowerment reception hosted by the Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, at the Royal Aeronautical Society, London.

The reception will host representatives from the top charities focusing on girls education.

During the reception, Boris Johnson will launch his new platform for Girls Education. The group will include “12 influential figures from across the Commonwealth who will drive forward the political momentum on girls’ education, hold countries to account and champion good practice.”

Prince Harry will also attend solo events during the meetings.

Meghan Markle will not be joining the Royal Family for the CHOGM Formal Opening as she is not an official member of the family quite yet.
