The Queen’s horse finishes in second place in the Sandringham Stakes at Royal Ascot

The Queen came close to winning the Sandringham Stakes at Royal Ascot on Friday, only being beaten by a head.

Magnetic Charm, owned by Her Majesty and trained by William Haggas, was beaten by Thanks Be in the Sandringham Stakes.

Although she didn’t win, Her Majesty still takes home £16,776 in prize money for being placed second.

The connections of winning horse Thanks Be take home £56,025 in winnings.

The winning horse was ridden by Hayley Turner who becomes only the second female jockey to win at Royal Ascot. No female rider had won at the meeting since 1987.

Thanks Be entered the race as a 33/1 outsider. Magnetic Charm was a 7/1 shot.
