It has been announced that The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will make a rare overseas state visit to Germany later this year.
Her Majesty and His Royal Highness are visiting the country between the 24-26th June at the invitation of the German President, Joachim Gauck.
The Queen has previously visited Germany on state visits before; most recently eleven years ago in 2004. Both she and Prince Philip also made official visits at the invitation from the German government in 1965, 1978, and 1992.
Her Majesty also travelled to Berlin in 2000 to open the new offices of the British Embassy.
President Gauck and his wife, Daniela Schadt, were previously guests of The Queen at a reception at Buckingham Palace in late 2012.
More details of the visit will be released closer to the event.

God bless HM The Queen!
There have been too many visits to Germany. Hopefully this one will be most fruitful. The stability in Europe depends on it. It’ll be the last one HM will take during her reign.
