The battle against the coronavirus could have an unlikely saviour in the form of the 93-year-old monarch.
When asked how people can take measures to protect themselves from the contagious disease, The Queen could be part of the solution.
Senior British Cabinet Ministers are advising people to wash their hands while singing ‘God Save The Queen’ – the national anthem of the United Kingdom.
Health officials say people should wash their hands for approximately 20 seconds. But there is no need for an egg-timer, singing the first verse of the national anthem will ensure hands have been sufficiently cleaned.
Leader of the House of Commons Jacob Rees-Mogg told journalists on Monday morning: “Wash your hands to the national anthem.”
Health Secretary Matt Hancock also relayed the advice, saying: “You should [wash your hands] for 20 seconds or more, and the way we explain it to children is that you should sing.
“Wash your hands for as long as you’re singing either Happy Birthday or God Save The Queen.”
Prime Minister Boris Johnson chaired a COBRA meeting on Monday morning to discuss crisis contingency plans should the coronavirus COVID-19 spread.
Mr Johnson said people should carry on with their business as usual, however, admits the spread of the virus in the UK is “likely.”
