The Queen misses church service due to public safety concerns

Queen Elizabeth II

The Queen has missed the Sunday morning church service at Sandringham due to public safety concerns.

Winds of 50mph are currently battering the Sandringham Estate making it unsafe for the monarch to attend church.

The high winds pose not only a threat to the 93-year-old monarch, but also to crowds who are gathered outside of church to get a glimpse of her.

This would have likely been Her Majesty’s final church service in Norfolk before returning to London.

The Metrological Office has warned people to take precautions as there could be a danger to life with gusts expected to reach around 90mph.

Severe gales and heavy rain is being felt across the country as Storm Ciara causes major disruption.
