Prince William launches new competition linked to Earthshot Prize

The Prince of Wales made an exciting announcement on Friday, sharing that a new Earthshot Prize competition will be launched.

Blue Peter, the beloved children’s television show, has partnered with the Earthshot Prize to hold a competition for children between the ages of five and fifteen to submit an original proposal that tackles one of Earthshote’s five goals: to Protect and Restore Nature, to Clean Our Air, to Revive Our Oceans, to Build a Waste-Free World, and to Fix Our Climate.

There will be one winner chosen for each of the five categories, and each will be invited to film with Blue Peter, in addition to receiving a Blue Peter badge and certificate.

CBBC and Kensington Palace shared a video of Prince William explaining why the competition is being launched. The Prince said ”I started the Earthshot Prize to search for solutions to the world’s biggest environmental challenges and we want to find the next generation of young inventors who can make a change.”

This comes on the heels of the announcement earlier this week that the Earthshot Prize has announced two global ambassadors. South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha and Australian conservationist Robert Irwin will be joining Earthshot to help showcase what finalists are working on.

Details of how to enter the new Earthshot competition can be found on the CBBC website.
