Legoland Windsor celebrates Cambridge family move with new royal display

The Cambridge family has packed up and moved to Windsor, and their new chapter has inspired an exhibit at the Legoland Windsor Resort.

The ‘Royal Removal Company’ is a 4,100-piece Lego creation that shows the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, and pup Orla, moving to Windsor Castle and unpacking a moving van filled with furniture.

Speaking to reporters, Paula Laughton, the Chief Model Maker at Legoland Windsor Resort, said: “The resort has always had a special connection with the royal family, so to welcome our new neighbours, our talented model makers are giving the royals a brick-tastic housewarming present by recreating the family in miniature form.”

The Lego forms representing William and Kate are dressed in the uniform of the Irish Guards and a blue dress, while the Cambridge boys are dressed in white shirts and pants, and Princess Charlotte is in a white dress. Orla, the black dog who was a gift from James Middleton, is nearby. It took model makers 19 hours to create the scene.

The ‘Royal Removal Company’ display is attached to a 39,000-piece Lego creation of Windsor Castle, which is on display at the resort’s Miniland. It is available to view from September and throughout the autumn.

Model maker Will Metcalfe told reporters that he hopes the Cambridge family will come and see the display: “If possible, we’d like to get them to come down, the royals, to come and have a look for themselves and actually meet themselves in Lego. I think that’d be quite fun for them!”

The Cambridges announced in August that they intend to relocate to Windsor so that their three children can attend Lambrook School from the September term. They will live in Adelaide Cottage on the grounds of Windsor Castle near The Queen while maintaining their office and staff at Kensington Palace, their London base.
