King Charles III

The King holds an audience with the Governor of Western Australia at Buckingham Palace

Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales

The King received the Governor of Western Australia, Chris Dawson, in audience at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, March 8.

His Excellency’s wife, Darrilyn Dawson, was also received by His Majesty.

Mr Dawson is The King’s vice-regal representative in Western Australia, and has travelled to the United Kingdom for the audience, as well as a number of other engagements.

In addition to meeting King Charles, the Governor is meeting with government and organisational leaders throughout the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland and Ireland with the aim of strengthening diplomatic relationships and advocate for trade and investment with Western Australia.

As part of his role as Governor, Mr Dawson is responsible for encouraging international engagement between Western Australia and the wider global community.

He is supported by his wife both at home and abroad in the execution of his duties.

It is widely expected that there will be a royal tour of Australia at some point in 2023 following the accession of King Charles to the throne.

However, it is unknown which members of The Royal Family will make the visit.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are widely thought to be in the running to be the first royals of the new reign to undertake a major tour of Australia.
