King Charles and Queen Camilla landed in Ottawa for a whirlwind visit to Canada and after being welcomed at the airport headed to the heart of the city to take part in a Canadian tradition.
Large crowds gathered at Lansdowne Park in Ottawa to see King Charles take part in a street hockey game. The Canadian monarch dropped the puck for the ceremonial start at centre ice, a tradition for many visitors to Canada.
Former Ottawa Senators defenceman Chris Phillips won the ceremonial face off but happily allowed The King to keep the puck as a souvenir afterwards.
The African Hockey Association and the Association de Hockey Féminin Vallée de Gatineau then faced off for the game.
Before the game, the royal couple visited a special farmers market where they were able to meet with local producers, as well as a four-legged friend- a sheep with the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum.
The King and Queen continued on with their schedule after the game, heading to Rideau Hall, the official residence of the Governor General in Ottawa.
The first day continued with private events, including Queen Camilla’s swearing in to The King’s Privy Council of Canada.
