Camilla is set to add some royal sparkle to Strictly Come Dancing

The Duchess of Cornwall is expected to make a special appearance on the final of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. Camilla has recorded a message to be shown during the show, set to be one of the most watched TV programmes in the UK this year.

The Duchess is known to be a huge fan of the popular show and has enjoyed a spin around the floor with judge, Craig Revel Horwood, in the past. She is expected to appear on screen to talk about the happiness the show has brought to people at the end of a year made challenging for all by the coronavirus pandemic.

Strictly has faced its own challenges in bringing the dancing competition to air. The celebrity contestants and their professional partners had to form bubbles meaning some have been away from family and loved ones for several months now. Much of the series had no studio audience as England went into a second lockdown soon after the shortened run started. And pre-series favourite, boxer Nicola Adams, had to withdraw from the competition after her professional partner, Katya Jones, tested positive for coronavirus early on in the run.

Four celebrities will compete for the coveted glitterball trophy. Comedian Bill Bailey, singer and social media star HRVY, actress Maisie Smith and reality TV star, Jaime Laing, are all in with a chance of being crowned champion.

The final of Strictly Come Dancing is on BBC One on December 19th 2020 at 6pm.
