
The King has sent his condolences to the families of two children who were killed in a knife attack at a dance and yoga class.
King Charles said that he and Queen Camilla send ”our most heartfelt condolences, prayers and deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of those who have so tragically lost their lives.”
The two children died after a man attacked the Taylor Swift inspired class taking place in Southport on the morning of July 29th 2024.
Nine other children have been injured and six of them are in a critical condition in hospital. Two adults were also hurt in the attack.
King Charles issued a statement as the full horror of the attack became clear. His Majesty said ”my wife and I have been profoundly shocked to hear of the utterly horrific incident in Southport today. We send our most heartfelt condolences, prayers and deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of those who have so tragically lost their lives, and to all those affected by the truly appalling attack.”
The Prince and Princess of Wales also sent their wishes to those affected by the attack.
In a statement on social media, William and Catherine said ”As parents, we cannot begin to imagine what the families, friends and loved ones of those killed and injured in Southport today are going through. We send our love, thoughts and prayers to all those involved in this horrid and heinous attack. Thank you also to the emergency responders who, despite being met with the most horrific scenes, demonstrated compassion and professionalism when your community needed you most.’ W&C‘
Police say that a 17 year old man has been arrested and is being questioned on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
