Lady Gabriella reveals her fears about tiara falling off during wedding

Lady Gabriella Kingston has opened up about her royal wedding that took place in May during an interview with Hello! magazine.

The daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent revealed her fears about her tiara falling off after bridesmaids accidentally stepped on her veil.

“Suddenly I could feel my tiara start to pull back and in those few unnerving moments, I thought it would come crashing down with an almighty clunk. My little bridesmaids had accidentally wandered on to my very sheer tulle 20ft veil. I slowed down until they’d stepped off it, but then it happened again. Fortunately, my hairdresser had pinned the tiara in place, and it stood firm,” she explained.

The 38-year-old, who goes by Ella, also spoke about her Luisa Beccaria designed gown calling it a “wonderful dress.”

She stated, “It was a magical day, and Luisa created a wonderful dress for me. This is the first time I’ve seen it since the wedding, and it brings back so many happy memories.”

The tiara Ella was referring to was the Kent City of London Fringe Tiara given to her grandmother, Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark by the city of London for her wedding to Prince George. They would become the Duke and Duchess of Kent. The tiara was also worn by Ella’s mother, Princess Michael during her wedding.

Lady Gabriella and Mr Kingston became engaged in 2018 during a visit to the Channel Island of Sark.

Ella married Thomas Kingston on 18 May 2019 at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in front of several members of the British Royal Family – including her father’s first cousin, The Queen. It was the third royal wedding in a year at the chapel. On 19 May 2018, Prince Harry married Meghan Markle (now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex), and Princess Eugenie of York married Jack Brooksbank on 12 October 2018.

Ella is 52nd in line to the throne. Her father was a grandson of King George V and Queen Mary through their son, Prince George; George was a younger brother to The Queen’s father, King George VI.

The full interview will be published in this week’s edition of Hello! magazine that goes on sale today.

Lady Gabriella’s wedding dress is on display at the Paris Couture Week show of Luisa Beccaria.
