The Earl and Countess of Wessex joined in on the Clap for Carers initiative on Thursday evening in a social media post shared on The Royal Family’s accounts.
“From all of us, just a huge thank you to so many of you working on the front line. We really appreciate it, keep up the fantastic work!” Edward says, before Sophie, Lady Louise and Viscount Severn join him in applauding the NHS workers and other frontline healthcare providers who are diligently working during the coronavirus pandemic.
The video, filmed at the Wessex’s home in Bagshot Park, was one of several posted on the royal family’s social media accounts. The Queen and Prince Philip, who have been self-isolating at Windsor Castle, shared a video of staff there clapping.
The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall shared a video of themselves clapping on the Clarence House Instagram account along with older photos of them meeting healthcare workers. It was, notably, the first official appearance made by Prince Charles since his COVID-19 diagnosis on Wednesday. The couple are self-isolating separately in Scotland after Prince Charles’s diagnosis—Camilla tested negative for COVID-19.
On the Kensington Palace social media accounts, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared a video of their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, clapping in front of Anmer Hall in Norfolk, where the family has been self-isolating.
The Wessexes’ video was accompanied by several older photos of The Queen meeting with NHS carers with a caption from Her Majesty reading, “We are enormously thankful for the expertise and commitment of our scientists, medical practitioners and emergency and public services.”
The Royal Family has been doing their part to assure the public during this global pandemic. William and Kate visited NHS workers last week, those who have been answering 111 and 999 calls; Sophie shared a series of Instagram stories (shot by Lady Louise) on how families can take care of themselves while self-isolating; and all social media accounts have been sharing best healthcare tips and practices, and news from the government.
